Jerusalem Post chief political correspondent Gil Hoffman on American politics, Israeli politics, and what each does to the other — a Yom Ha'atzmaut lecture.
Speaker
Gil Hoffman
Chief political correspondent and analyst, The Jerusalem Post
Hoffman was the Jerusalem Post's chief political correspondent from 1998 to 2022. Raised in Illinois and trained at Northwestern's Medill School, he worked at the Miami Herald and the Arizona Republic before making aliyah at 22, served in an IDF artillery unit and later as an IDF reserves spokesperson, and has covered ten Knesset elections. He is billed as the first Israeli speaker to have lectured in all fifty states.
Hoffman covered Israeli politics for the Jerusalem Post for twenty-four years, which gave him a rare thing: the ability to explain each country’s politics to the other without flattering either.
The lecture went out around Yom Ha’atzmaut and took the obvious question of an American election year — what changes for Israel, and what does not.
