Privacy Policy

The Atlanta Israel Coalition (“AIC,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. We collect only what we need to run our programs and stay in touch with the community, and we do not sell your personal information.

What we collect

We collect information you choose to give us, and a small amount of technical information the site needs to work:

• Newsletter sign-ups. When you subscribe, we collect the name and email address you enter.
• Contact form. When you write to us, we collect your name, email address, and the message and topic you send.
• Donations. When you give, our payment provider collects the details needed to process your gift. AIC receives a record of the donation (such as amount and donor name) but does not store your full card number on this site.
• Technical information. Like most websites, our host may log standard technical data such as browser type and general location, used to keep the site secure and reliable.

How we use it

We use the information you share to:

• send the AIC newsletter and program updates you asked for;
• respond to your message or inquiry;
• process and acknowledge your donation, and meet our recordkeeping and tax obligations as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit;
• invite you to events, missions, and volunteer opportunities; and
• keep the site secure and improve how it works.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. The AIC newsletter list is never merged with any other organization’s list.

Service providers

AIC uses trusted third-party services to run parts of the site and its programs, and shares information with them only as needed to provide those services:

• Substack, to manage and send the AIC Dispatch newsletter;
• Resend, to send transactional email (contact replies, donation receipts);
• Stripe, to process donations securely (AIC never stores your card details);
• an event-registration service, when you register for a program;
• YouTube (Google), to show embedded event recordings and videos — see “Cookies and analytics” below; and
• Cloudflare, to host the site, and — where enabled — a privacy-respecting analytics provider.

Each provider handles your information under its own privacy terms.

Internal CRM

We maintain an internal contact record — your name, email address, and a history of your interactions with us (donations, event registrations, newsletter status, messages you send us) — so that our outreach stays organized and we do not duplicate messages. This record is accessible only to authorized AIC staff. We do not share it with third parties except through the service providers listed above, and we never sell or rent it.

Cookies and analytics

We use only the cookies the site needs to function, plus a small set of analytics cookies that measure aggregate site use — and only after you accept them.

Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use our site. GA4 is configured with:

• IP address anonymization enabled (Google truncates the last octet before storage);
• Google Consent Mode v2, with analytics denied by default until you accept;
• no Google Signals or advertising features enabled;
• no cross-site tracking;
• data retention set to 14 months.

When granted, GA4 sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<container-id>. To opt out of GA4 tracking, you can decline analytics in our cookie banner (your choice is remembered on this device), or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on. Google’s use of the data GA4 collects is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Essential cookies. These are set by our infrastructure (Cloudflare) and by our checkout provider (Stripe) when you place a donation. They are required for those functions to work and are not used for tracking.

Cookie consent. The cookie banner shown on your first visit lets you accept or decline non-essential (analytics) cookies. Your choice is stored on your device so we do not ask again. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s cookies and localStorage.

Do Not Track. Our site does not respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals; we do not run any advertising trackers regardless.

YouTube embeds. Some pages show embedded videos from YouTube. These load as a still preview by default and only start — and only load YouTube’s player, which may set its own cookies — after you click play. If you do not play a video, no YouTube cookies are set. YouTube’s use of any data it then collects is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link; you can opt out anytime.
• Access or deletion. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing the address below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
• Do Not Track. The site does not respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals; it simply does not run advertising trackers.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or to meet legal and recordkeeping obligations, then delete or anonymize it. Typical periods:

• Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus 12 months of archived history for delivery diagnostics.
• Donation records: 7 years (IRS record-keeping obligation for tax-exempt organizations).
• Contact-form and inquiry messages: 3 years.
• Volunteer and event records: 3 years after your last engagement.
• Website analytics: aggregated pageview data retained for 14 months (Google Analytics 4 default), and thereafter only in aggregate/anonymized form.
• Cookies: each cookie expires as set by the specific cookie (session, 30 days, or 12 months for preference cookies).

Visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland

If you access our site from the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and UK GDPR:

• Access — you can ask what personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — you can ask us to delete your data, subject to our legal retention obligations (see “Data retention” above).
• Restriction — you can ask us to limit how we use your data.
• Objection — you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including direct marketing (you can also opt out of direct marketing at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email).
• Portability — for data you provided us that we process automatically, you can request a machine-readable copy.
• Complaint — you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). In each EU/EEA country, it is the national data protection authority.

Our lawful bases for processing your data:

• Consent — for newsletter signup and, where applicable, non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Contract — for processing donations and services you request from us (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• Legal obligation — for records we must keep for tax, accounting, or law-enforcement compliance (Article 6(1)(c)).
• Legitimate interests — for site security, fraud prevention, keeping our internal CRM organized, and responding to inquiries you initiate (Article 6(1)(f)). You can object to processing on this basis.

International transfers. We are based in the United States. When you give us personal data, it is transferred to and processed in the US. Our US-based service providers (Stripe, Substack, Resend, Cloudflare, Google) have executed Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as their transfer mechanism.

California residents

The Atlanta Israel Coalition is a nonprofit, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) does not generally apply to nonprofits. Even so, we voluntarily extend California residents the following rights:

• Right to know what personal information we collect, from what sources, for what purposes, and with whom we share it. This entire policy is designed to give you that information; ask us if anything is unclear.
• Right to delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to our legal retention obligations.
• Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
• Right to opt out of sale. We do not sell your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
• Right to non-discrimination. Exercising any of these rights will not affect the service you receive from us.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

For users in the EU, EEA, or UK, we require verifiable parental consent for children under 16 (or the applicable local age of consent, whichever is lower).

Changes

We may update this policy as our programs or the law change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be noted on this page.
