The Jewish Women’s Fund of Atlanta ran this one, and AIC was on the receiving side of it: Cheryl Dorchinsky was one of three finalists pitching for the money.

The format is brisk by design. Donors put in seventy-two dollars or more, heard a seven-minute pitch from each finalist, argued it out in breakout groups, and voted on how to split the pot — all of it granted, with the allocations announced the next morning. To apply you had to be a Jewish woman running an Atlanta nonprofit on under a million dollars a year, and the ask had to be for women’s leadership: coaching, paid time off, emergency childcare, something that keeps a woman in the job.

Cheryl pitched alongside Victoria Raggs of the Atlanta Jews of Color Council and Nancy Weissmann of the Jewish Interest Free Loan Association of Atlanta. Ninety minutes on Zoom from seven o’clock, on International Women’s Day.
