An interactive evening with Rudy Rochman — IDF paratrooper, campus organizer, and maker of the documentary series We Were Never Lost.
Speaker
Rudy Rochman
Israeli activist and filmmaker
Born in France and raised across Paris, Miami, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Israel, New York and Singapore, Rochman enlisted in the IDF Paratroopers at 17 and served in the 101st Airborne Brigade. He then chose Columbia University because it was ranked North America's most antisemitic campus, and built a grassroots pro-Israel movement there that other campuses copied. He was named in the 36 Under 36 in 2018. His documentary series We Were Never Lost finds Jewish communities the world has lost track of; filming its first season in Nigeria in 2021, he and his team were imprisoned for three weeks.
Rochman is one of the few people in this work who has been imprisoned for it. He and his film crew spent three weeks in a Nigerian jail in 2021 while making We Were Never Lost, a series about Jewish communities that history mislaid.
The Atlanta evening was built as a conversation rather than a lecture — he takes questions and pushes back. Chabad Israeli Atlanta hosted; the suggested contribution was $18.
