Alex Ryvchin
Australian author and co-chief executive of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry
Author of *Zionism: The Concise History*.
Ryvchin came to Atlanta to talk about Zionism: The Concise History, his short account of the movement from its beginnings, which came out that year. Anat Sultan-Dadon, Israel’s Consul General to the Southeast, brought him to the community, and AIC was honored to be part of the evening.
His own story starts in Kyiv. His family left the Soviet Union as refugees and refuseniks in 1987, and he grew up in Sydney, where he studied law and politics. He practiced law in Sydney and then London, and spoke for the Zionist Federation in the UK. In 2013 he joined the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, the community’s main representative body, and in February 2018 he became its co-chief executive.
