Ilan Sinelnikov of Students Supporting Israel on Palestinian Apartheid Week, the campus initiative SSI launched in 2022 to answer Israel Apartheid Week. A CAEF Fighting Back web talk that AIC co-sponsored.

Speaker

  • Ilan Sinelnikov

Founder and President, Students Supporting Israel

He founded Students Supporting Israel, which started at the University of Minnesota in March 2012. When he gave this talk SSI was on nearly 200 campuses in the United States, Canada and Argentina, with more than 400 alumni and about 1,000 active members.

Every year Israel Apartheid Week comes around on a lot of campuses and repeats the lie that Israel practices apartheid. In 2022 Students Supporting Israel answered it with a week of its own, Palestinian Apartheid Week. It points at where the separation and exclusion of Jews actually happens: in the areas Hamas and the Palestinian Authority control.

Ilan Sinelnikov, SSI’s founder and president, walked through how the idea was thought up, planned and put into practice. How do students take it when somebody tells them the truth? How does it stack up against Israel Apartheid Week, and can it really counter the lies?

This was one of the Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation’s Fighting Back web talks, and AIC co-sponsored it.
