A week after the Hanukkah tour of the Old City, AIC and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta ran a follow-up. David Sussman led it again, live, on Sunday morning, December 20. It was free, it ran an hour and a half, and anyone could join on Zoom or on AIC’s Facebook page.
This time he walked through all four quarters of the Old City. Along with the sites and the history, he brought the audience to people who live there, to hear what that’s like. He also took apart a few things most visitors assume. The walls aren’t as old as people think. The Tower of David isn’t King David’s. And at Jaffa Gate there’s a mezuzah made out of bullets.
